Episode 14 of the second season of the OC, The Rainy Day Women: Seth prepares to sulk the night away in front of Sci-Fi movies all night after not being able to convince Summer to come to his house so he could make a last ditch effort to win her back before she left for Europe with her boyfriend Zack. Unfortunately for him, a rainstorm puts the cable out. Fortunately for him, Summer see’s a little boy that resembles Seth at the airport terminal playing with a toy horse, reminding her of Seths “friend” Captain Oats (a similar plastic toy horse and running gag between them when they were together) and she leaves the airport at the last minute, telling Zack that “she just can’t do it”.

Seth goes to the roof to fix the sattelite, wearing his Spiderman mask as protection from the rain (previously set up in the episode because he “doesn’t look good in hats and this was all he had to protect his hair from the rain”). Seth slips and falls head first to the floor, but is saved by the rope he tethered to himself. Summer arrives at his house and hears his calls for help in the back yard where she finds him and peels the mask down to kiss him in a parody/homage of the famous scene in Spiderman.

In the famous dance routine in which Gene Kelly sings the title song while twirling an umbrella, splashing through puddles and getting soaked to the skin, he was actually dancing in water with a little bit of milk added, so that the water puddles and raindrops would show up in the filming. Kelly was sick with a 103-degree fever at the time.
