Nirvana at MTV VMA’s in 92

These alternative rockers never seemed to have a smooth time at the VMAs. Maybe it was an inherent fear of being ”too mainstream” or ”selling out” by performing at the MTV show. (Probably anything MTV-related would fall into those categories.) Nirvana started off the string of bad-boy problems by strumming the first chords of ”Rape Me” (just to displease MTV execs) before settling into the less-brutal ”Lithium.” Then toward the end of the song, bassist Krist Novoselic got frustrated with his malfunctioning amp and threw his bass into the air. Great effect — if it hadn’t fallen right back down on his head. That’s gravity, dude. (from ew.com)

Dinosaurs: Switched at Birth

A shocking secret is revealed when the Sinclair family starts to think that Baby Sinclair may not be their real baby. This gets Fran so outraged that she decides to go to see the Doctor. The Doctor then performs multiple tests on the two kids to find the results of who’s baby is who’s. The results is that the Molehill’s baby, Aubrey, is the Sinclair’s and that Baby Sinclair belongs to the Molehills. But it wasn’t a happy ending for Fran when she battles to get Baby back into the family.

Solomon: The idea of someone dividing an object into two, whether it is a baby or a bike has been used in sitcoms over and over again. The first time it was used however, it was by King Solomon, as told in The Book of Kings in the Hebrew Bible. It’s basically the same premise as the episode, except when Solomon realizes who the true mother is, she would rather give the baby up than see it harmed, he instantly gives it to her.

Lynyrd Skynyrd: When the episode starts, Robbie and Baby are watching DTV, and a music video for Lyzzard Skyzzard.
This is a take on one of America’s greatest rock bands, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Robbie: Stop it! You’re adults, can’t you settle this like adults?
Earl: What, weapons?
Gus Molehill: Costly litigation?
Robbie: No, Solomon the Great.
