Here’s the whole opening sequence in it’s entirety.
Actually, I’ve been informed that this is just one version of the full opener. There are other versions that include segments with Scrooge ordering a paintbrush to fix the color of his hat after it’s accidentally colored pink, A paint brush coloring Gadget’s hair orange, and Cubbi gummi swinging through the screen Tarzan style. Here it is:
Disney Afternoon Opener
The Rescuers: Rescue Aid Society
Walt Disney’s The Rescuers’ “Rescue Aid Society”.
LYRICS:
R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Heads held high
Touch the sky
You mean everything to me
In a fix, in a bind
Call on us anytime
We’ll appear from nowhere
Mighty are we
R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Honesty, loyalty
We pledge to thee
R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Heads held high
Touch the sky
You mean everything to me
In a jam, in a scrape
And you think ‘no escape’
Do not fear, we’ll be here
Courageous are we
R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Heads held high
Touch the sky
Our hearts we pledge to thee
Pocahontas: Mine Mine Mine
A wonderful token villain song of greedy, capitalism, and general plundering of natures recourses in disregard for anyone or anything but your own self gain. Its meant as a precautionary “look how bad they are” tale, but I of course love it for the bad reasons. The song also serves as a “just in case you forgot” moment that the entire movie is propaganda to remind us that Natives = good and noble, Whites = bad and greedy.
Hunchback of Notre Dame: Topsy Turvy Day
Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame: Quasimodo attends the Feast of Fools.
Toy Story 2: Jessie’s Story
Jessie explains her tragic time with Emily.
When Somebody Loved Me.
Nominated for Best Original Song – 2000
Song of the South: Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah
Motion pictures like these need to be shown….Hiding films like this one is like shelving paintings and great novels because a few of us want to close our eyes and pretent it never happened ( slavery)…Song of the South is a beautiful story for children and adults alike….
Disney’s Holloween Treat: Donald and the Gorilla
This was always what I thought of when I heard the term Gorilla Mask for years until I found out that it was an abusive but hilarious sex degradation act.
